RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt Figger announced on Friday the signing of 6-2 guard RJ Nance for the 2024-25 season.

Nance is a senior at Centennial High School in Las Vegas. As a junior last season, Nance averaged 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals per game en route to All-Conference honors. He also plays club basketball for the Las Vegas Punishers.

Nance played his sophomore season at Spring Valley High School, averaging 7.2 points, 2.2 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 49.6% from the field, including 38.9% from behind the arc.

I“RJ is a strong combo guard that can get in the lane and finish as well as get others involved,” Figger said. “He is always playing downhill and drawing contact. He’s one of the top prospects in Nevada and has great character. We are fortunate to have him in our program.”

Nance joins 5-10 guard Jaylen Washington and 6-6 guard Nathaniel Law as part of the 2024-25 signing class.
